Today’s Prompt from Today’s Author:

The peace negotiations were underway despite the lack of trust on both sides of the table.

Delilah stood in the doorway, staring at the man on the mattress. The stark white bandages highlighted how pale he had become. There were dark shadows under his eyes. When he turned his head to look at her, she felt a chill run down her spine. Was this the man had been her best friend, even her lover, a decade ago?  The dark eyes penetrated her thoughts, causing heat to flood her cheeks. She met his gaze until he rolled over to face the wall.
“Well, Kade, you sure got yourself beat up this time.” She crossed her arms and leaned against the wall. The white bandages wrapped around his head and torso. A black cast extended from his toes to his knee of the left leg.
“Go away,” the reply was muffled.
“I am not. Your brother said that he needed help with you.” She strode over to the side of his bed. “I am not leaving until you can walk me out of the house on your own two feet.”
“I said go away.” He ground out. A sharp intake of breath slipped out as he slowly sat up. “I don’t want you here.”
“Too bad. You are behind on your pain meds.” She thrust a small cup of water and four white pills at him.
A grunt was the only response before he gulped the medication.
